Fall safe: Preventing falls in hospitals (Royal College of Physicians)
The course has been updated in 2015 by Julie Windsor, Patient Safety Lead, Older People and Falls, NHS England, and Janet Husk, Royal College of Physicians so that it reflects. NICE 161, Falls: assessment and prevention of falls in older people guidance (2013).
The aim of this course is to give you the knowledge to prevent falls and to help your patients stay safe and independent. It has been developed primarily for registered nurses working in acute or community hospitals, but any staff member with an interest in falls prevention is welcome and encouraged to use it.
New for 2015 is an interactive 360˚environmental risk factor section.
With the support of resources, glossary, nurse viewpoints and clinical videos, this interactive 2-hour e-learning programme covers patient risk factors (cardiovascular, balance, confusion, bone health, medication, vision and toileting); environmental risk factors (patient environment, special equipment and observation) and what to do after a fall.
