The Impact of Culture and Religion on Child Mental Health (MindEd)
This session is aimed at more experienced/specialist users. Culture and its ramifications influence how we approach mental health problems in children. This session explores the concept of culture, cultural diversity and identity. It will look at the understanding and expectations of childhood across different cultures, and evaluate the way in which these and related family attitudes and parenting practices interact and influence child mental health. The session will also review how culture and religion influence the presentation, assessment and treatment of children with mental health problems.
